Hi all

As some of you may know I'm building my wife a little budget build.. I want to get the G4560 or G4400 CPU but both aren't in stock at OCUK or other sites... is there an alternative CPU around the same price with good performance for her games

Resident evil
The Sims
Lego (something)

So not all games that have mad graphics...

I personally want to buy from OCUK as I feel they're the best for customer service etc and deliver next day

Thanks

It's an Intel boxed processor with three years warranty directly with Intel, so long term service won't be an issue, but only get the 4560 as it is 2c/4t and the 4400 is 2c/2t

I was considering getting the 4560 but I've been told it will need a BIOS update as its skylake and kabylake together... I will be ordering tomorrow so will we what I can find online... I don't mind doing a update etc just thought if I was to get the 4400 then it will just drop in the mobo with no need for updates

You might be better off getting a second hand PC. You can get a i5 2500k for a similar price second hand.

I was considering an older socks build before I purchased all the bits for a 1151 socket... problem is the price of older socket parts is still quite high

I ordered the H110M-K *B* grade from OCUK not sure how old that board is..

BIOS was updated to version 3016 on 29/12/2016 for Kaby Lake support "
"Pentium G4560(3.5G,54W,L3:3M,2C,rev.B0,HT)"

So if the stock was newer than say Feb' - March then you'd be fine.

Also the G4560 is just a re-labelled i3, much better value than the G4400.

An Asus board should have the bios revision on it (so you can check before you order), I can't remember where unfortunately, but I think it is the last four digits on the barcode attached to the PCI-E 16x slot.

He already has a h110 motherboard, G4560 wont work without a bios update.

Up until your post there was no mention of what motherboard he has so how was I supposed to know that? He also says in his op that he was looking for the G4560 but couldn't find it in stock anywhere. I just stated that it was in stock at the very first place I looked.

Regardless of the bios being up to date or not, it would be madness to go for the G4400 over the G4560 which has HT and is basically a cut down i3. It's a Asus board as well and all Asus boards have removeable bios chips so he could get a chip flashed to the latest version on Ebay if he wanted.

You were not to know.

I was just informing as this is releavant, but this shows the importance of keeping the topic to one thread as the op has different threads about this build.

Update there back in stock.
