Need a floor stand... for 50kg plasma

Maybe he likes more than 300 lines in motion..... 1080p dead lol, that’s hilarious!,

it effectively is. show me any new tv that you can buy which is decent that is 1080p. all decent tv's are now 4K. i'm talking brand new here out a shop. 1080p has been dead for over a year now in terms of the tv market.

Plasma is far superior to any LED technology in terms of picture quality even 4k ones.
Only OLED beats it which is expensive as ****.

i think you mean LCD technology as LED technology is lighting not screen technology. also OLED is available for £1500 and as I have already stated morons will pay over £1K for a 10 year old Kuro. plus he will probably end up spending £500 on a specialised tv stand for his large and stupidly heavy tv. when he could sell the tv. add the £500 and get himself an OLED with a 5 year warranty.

What exactly is your problem?

Well I'm now buying a table top stand for £130. Truth of the mater is, if i were to go a replace the Kuro, I'd likely be looking to spend £3k+ which I'm not prepared to do at the moment. Yes if I hold onto it I'll not be able to sell it to some muppet for ridiculous money, but by then I'll probably not have to spend £3k+. Whereas 1080p may be "dead" from the point of view of sales of new sets - it's far from dead in terms of content So i'll be happy for a while yet with the Kuro at the centre of my system - Cheers all.

i don't understand why people spend £3K on a tv then keep the tv for 10+ years. makes more sense to spend £1.5K and buy every 5 years. first of all sell on value is higher (kuro was an anomally), it stays within warranty and you keep up to date with all the latest tech. plus all tv's over £1.5K are horribly overpriced usually thanks to the law of diminishing returns.

e.g. any tv made within the past 5 years has all sorts of handy new tech the kuro doesn't have. with any form of technology it's better to buy more regularly and spend less than go top of the range and keep for longer.

e.g. who is still using a PC made 10 years ago for playing the latest games? technology moves so fast your much better off spending less and more regularly.

Because it's still a fantastic TV.

Also I buy speakers and have them for many years- do they suddenly become crap? If you don't like my having a Pioneer LX-5090, you could always buy my a 7th gen LG OLED.

Also what features do new TV's have? Smart functions? I'd rather have a androd box.

"who is still using a PC made 10 years ago for playing the latest games?"
My new monitor is actually lower resolution than my existing 10 year old TN monitror.

The stand will be useful even if he changes tv ? the new one might be lighter but interesting to know the options.
However I would avoid tv in front of window if possible, for daytime viewing anyway.

just checked ... still no news on lg 1080p oled pricing
some interesting theories there on why they are doing it (eg bedrooms)

why would you want a 7th gen OLED if your so happy with you current set? i had an inkling by your response you would be biased towards old ancient tv's and owned one.

speaker technology hasn't changed at all in like 100 years. therefore a good set of speakers from 30 years ago is still a good set of speakers today.

tv technology however moves at a rapid pace. every year improvements are made to them.

android box still isn't going to make your 1080p into 4k HDR tv. once you experience 4K and HDR you cannot go back to 1080p without it feeling inferior.

there is a reason why my old plasma is no longer the main tv in my house. i would never sell it but it's been replaced 2 times already now as the main tv.

I don't have any 4K or HDR sources, or material.

Only other option is tv opposite the window (window is about 12ft wide). Anyways the plasma will help keep that area warm in winter :p I don't watch tv during the day anyways so not a problem.

But come on, be honest, if you watch a lot there's next to nothing by way of content yet and what little there is to be streamed demands a pretty chipper internet connection.

I refuse to live in a house that doesn't have virgin media. Both my last homes have had the cabinet right outside the house too. So I get more than what I'm supposed to. 210 MB is what I'm getting at the moment with 12MB upload.

Problem is I then have to buy both sky and Virgin media

it is like stealing electricity ? you have wired up another fibre optic into the cabinet then ? high upload for backups/remote media access would be good.

this is a joke right :p you only both discussed the same 5minutes ago, in the aptly/memorably titled 'kuro owner is delirious' thread

Also with the value of oleds whether they are frequently stolen, so having one in the window may not be best strategy,
suppose you would have to change the mac address though.
