Looking at getting a new PC but no idea what is a good mobo. I'll list specs below and they should all stay the same other than the graphics card which is likely to be upgraded as and when I feel like upgrading and maybe an extra hard drive. So looking for a future proof but not overly expensive mobo to fit with that system please.

Do you mean sata 2 or is there a sata 3 coming out?

I'll consider the i5 but I hear there's not much difference if you only use it for gaming which is my main reason for using it. I suppose it would be more future proofed though.

gaming get a dual core then :D of PllX2 or i3:D

but im sure there alreayd mobos with usb3 :D
I probably woud prefer i3 overall in the end. Seems like it's a bit better at processing and got all I need for gaming price wise.

So any motherboard reccomandations anyone? I just don't know what's a good price to pay, which ones are best at all or anything.

for gaming a phenom II x2 550 BE will suffice. a lot of boards will allow you to unlock 1 or 2 extra cores too if ur lucky. and these will easily clock to 3.7-3.8 GHz
also is 8 gb of ram really necessary?

Probably not necessary but I want it just to future proof the machine for several years. I'm not good at upgrading PC's and stuff and so don't want to have to mess with it much for several years with just the graphics cards being switched out pretty much. I think 8gb would just ensure I have no need to want other ram down the line or anything.
I'd be going for windows 7 so it could run the ram at least.

im sure some one more knowledgeable will correct me if im wrong but its the speed of the ram that is the important bit for gaming, 8gb will only have its uses for video encoding and such like. 4gb-maybe 6 of corsair dominator gt will be the nuts for some time (2000mhz iirc)

If you're going AMD, I'd drop the RAM to 4GB for now and pick up the 5850 as mentioned above - If you're staying single card, I'd recommend our M4A79XTD Deluxe or M4A785TD-V Evo boards :)
