I'm currently in the process of moving all my storage to NAS, now I also want to have my 2 SSD's outside the case as well connected externally, just wondering if there is any decent and nice looking external enclosures to Raid 0 (ideally USB3/eSATA/Firewire) etc on the market?

Also what is the best connection for me to use above ideally?

Thanks

I'd look for a 2.5 " SATA Enclosure USB3.0.

eSATA can have issues and afaik both eSATA/Firewire need to be powered externally. USB3 should be able to power the HDD.

Raid 0 SSD is rather pointless for most people, just for benchmark whores. :)

You could go for a sata docking station.

Just put the drives in as and when you need them.

Or a more extreme example and I'm not sure if this will work.

Put the 2 SSD in this.

But I'm not sure if this would work in a USB 3.0 external, probably something to contact Icy Dock directly to find out.

Expensive option if it works £59.99 + 3.5 external enclosure.

Edit..

It does say it will work with external enclosures.

Can I just get a 2 bay enclosure and then use the Raid on the motherboard? Or would I need to connect them internally to utilize that?

I thought so, just needed clarification! :D

I think I will just find a single enclosure and send this other SSD back.
