i used to have a Yamaha YST MS50 2.1 PC Speakers setup, until it died :(

Output power 80W Total power
20W per satellite (1kHz, 4 ohms)
40W for subwoofer (100Hz, 5 ohms)
Frequency Response 32Hz--20kHz Crossover frequency:
200Hz for subwoofer
12kHz for satellites

i need to beat that spec with around £100 - can it be done? who knows what about speakers?????? as i don't have a clue! this set was 5 years old..

My mate has just got a logitec 5500 and he said it'll crumble the foundations of his house if he turns it up full :D :D :D (fear not, i am just joking, it wont actually destroy your house). It has a 10" sub and is apparently very loud with rich bass, Ive got an Alec Lansing 2.1 system at the moment and that is loud and only has a 6" sub.

EDIT just saw your price limit of £100 , thats the logitec out of the question, the system i have was under 100 so it can be done. I'm no expert but it seems very good sound quality, the high notes are very crisp and the bass is very deep, it also goes very loud. Its an Altec Lansing CS21 i have, but there might be better systems about.

If money is a bit of a problem £150 would buy you logitech Z-680's very popular and about as close to a proper seperates setup (sound wise) as PC-speakers get. The Z-5500 having a bit more power but nearly £100 more. On your budget id stretch myself to Z-680 (one less night out/cook at home for a week rather than takeaway kinda thing) rather than doubling my budget and a bit :)

10 inch subs dont do that. Christ people realy do exagurate a bit dont they lol
Yes it does  , obviously it wont demolish a house but it is very loud, its louder than a Technics SL DV-290 sound system so yes its pretty loud.

no it doesn't. ive got 2x 12 subs in this room. subwoofers do not damage foundations

i think i will have to go with them - i'm just having trouble comparing the spec, if you see my first post with what i had before, it was a loud system and this has to be louder!

I was obviously joking about the foundations thing, i didn't expect anyone to take that seriously. There was supposed to be a rolleyes at the end of yes it does to show i was messing but people cry when you use rolleyes.

I cant understand why you think it isnt loud though.

i never said it wasnt loud you idiot and yes, you do deserve to be called an idiot. "FFS ITS LOUD GET OVER IT". What the hell is wrong with you

Fact: its a 10inch driver in a small box. It's not that loud and its not that great either. deal with it.

guys guys, get back on thread! :) i'm gonna go for the order of Acoustic Energy Aego M 2.1 Speakers - just want someone to look at my spec in the first post and say yeah, these are better as i don't understand how the diffirent spec for Acoustic Energy Aego M 2.1 Speakers compare..

I've got Logitech Z2200s, they are really loud, haven't managed to turn them all the way up to the max because its too loud lol, I think they are louder than the Acoustic Energy speakers but don't quote me on that. They don't sell the 2200s anymore but they do sell the Z2300s, which are basically the same just a different design.
