just trying to find out if my SN41G2 is 5.1 !!!!!!!!!! please let be as i feel like blowing some cash i don't have then feeling guilty later :p

I'm pretty sure shuttles are 5.1 through the optical out on the back or using the analog outputs, you could invest in a Hi-Tec Xplosion sound card http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/HiTeC_Soundcards.html and get DTS and Dolby Live encoding so your games become 5.1 through the optical output but then you could just use the analog ports on your shuttle for analog 5.1 in games and it'll still sound good

sounds good, so as long as i can get that 5.1 sound from the back of the shuttle i should be ok, i take it all the leads will be included?

You wont regret getting the Logitec's, Ive just been speaking to my mate on MSN and he say's its excellent sound quality and very loud, but he also said that the sound system he upgraded from was a cheapo 2.0 set so he has nothing to compare it to. He said it brings games to life, especially doom 3 with the EAX patch, surround sound is defiantly worth the extra over a 2.1 system for games and movies. I'm going to have a look at his setup soon and then i might upgrade my 2.1 system as I'm getting a X-FI Extreme music tomorrow :) so i want a good sound system to match the sound card. He been sending a few pics and it looks good.

EDIT just seen this under the specs of the Z-5500 sound system Maximum SPL: >115 dB, IIRC 88db can cause permanent ear damage so it should defiantly be loud enough.

Z-5500 Speakers 5.1 Review

"anyway... initial thoughts:

anyone who gets these for gaming is either living on the moon (and therefore doesnt have neighbours) or has neighbours who like the sound of aliens dying / cars crashing.

the sub is MASSIVE - if you want something dinky and elegant go for a REL or something similar - it's not small and its not pretty. I dont care about that but my wife does... she's not a happy bunny about it. (I put her in her place and sent her back to the kitchen to get me a beer - I was too busy doing manly things to chat... ;)

sound is emough to fill a good sized room with plenty to spare, but found that it's fine with the default settings (granted I've turned the sub down as the cups and windows were shaking).

the control panel (not the remote, the control panel itself) - isnt the best looking bit of kit, and the remote is plastic-y and horrible (truth be told - it's ugly and cheap feeling) - dont care about this as am getting a harmony to do everything else.

this is all made up for by the size, capacity and cute-ness of the speakers - they're brill and really suprising - if you closed your eyes and listened you'd expect to see something a lot more substantial when you opened your eyes again. weird.

just using these for gaming would be a complete waste of a fantastic system.

it does everything it needs to do well, erm, well and the bits where it isnt quite as good - who cares? so the sub is big and ugly? so the remote is cheap and tatty? so the control panel looks like it's come out of Netto? who cares? I've seen much prettier systems cost 3x more than this and sound 1/10th as good.

final note: this review is written after only listening to the system playing an iPod via the headphone / direct input with Les Miserable (wife again, dont blame me) - I cant wait to get the MCE / sky+ hooked up to it to really stretch it.

well worth £185 and anyone who says any differently is simple."
