Need A New Car! Help?

Am I the only one then that didnt scrape their first car?....or any car since then come to think of it.

I've been driving and riding bikes for 17 years and havent put a single dent or scrape in anything.

Common guys....its not bumper cars out there.

I still wouldnt recommend spending 10K on any small hatchback though - just because they arent worth it. Look at 3 or 4K to get a mint little car then look after it and dont bump it - its not that hard really.

Finance mate, I work for a global IT company (Cap Gemini) so gets me by. Put a big lump sum down on the car, part ex'd my peugeot, and financed the rest. Easy :)

You could get a VW Polo / Seat Ibiza :)

You'd be looking at a 2002 1.4 Ibiza 3dr for £3-£4k, or a 1.6 Sport (might be a bit fast though).

Whats an RR meet?

I should have mentioned before that anyone who replies to this thread may well have their street cred ruined like me.

lol, the BMW might go yards to help you fight that image !

Fox always has had very sensible choice in cars, just yet as soon as he buy's one it's then the only car you ever hear off on these forums till a new car !

RR = rolling road. It's when you measure the power your car has.

go cheap, spend 5k max.. save the rest, get used to driving, find out what u want and let the rest take care of itself!

buying things new = lost of lost money instantly..

I'm driving an old Focus at the mo that my instructors got and thats better than my Dads Laguna. Do you think it will make much difference if i buy a Diesel?

much difference to who?

this will be your car, diesels are generally more expensive, but return more miles to the galon.

if you do less than 30 miles a day, then i dont think that a deisel will be worth the expense..

focus are very good cars, so are fiesta. they are both nice and cheap in terms of parts, and are good cars all round. u cant really go wrong with a 1.6 focus, for 4-5k.

laguna's arent very good cars. dont be duped into parting with all your cash for something shiny and new, it wont be after a month, or 6...

if you only spend 5k and save the other i dont think a hundred quid this way or that will make much different to your insurance tbh, just choose the car u want, your a women, they virtually give insurance away thse days ! (lol1

/invades thread

Quick question. Need to find a job to afford a car before a purchase, but whats the take of a Mondeo for a first car?

Fox's pimping made me have a look, and they are actually a really good deal, but unsure on how they would be as a first car.
