Hi all. Looking to buy a new cordless phone for my mum for Christmas as the ones she had all broke. They were quite bad to be honest :p

She had a Panasonic one and a Siemens Gigaset one. Both had quite bad battery life and not very good sound quality.

I'm not too fussed on the make, as long as it is good (i.e. will last more than a few months) and it has a good battery life. Anything else is a bonus (although a large screen/backlight would be preferred, it is not a requirement). No need to have any fancy stuff like answering machines and address/phone books. We don't have a huge house so the signal distance just needs to be standard. I'm unsure if I want to go single or dual, although I would prefer dual if the price is right. I am willing to spend up to/around €50 for a good cordless phone (or pair of cordless phones). Triple is definitely overkill.

I looked through old threads (most recent being mid 2013) and the main suggestions were Panasonic and Siemens Gigaset. Now I would have preferred to stay away from these brands due to bad previous experiences, but if they are still the top dog, I might chalk my previous experience down to luck (or lack of). I've done some reaserch, and found some nice Panasonics, but I was wondering whether people con direct me to the right phone(s). A vendor which delivers to Malta would be preferred. Thanks :D

Panasonic have always been great for me. But they do sell some low end models which are not as good.

Great call quality.

We might have had one of the worse ones then. I can't rmember thoe model, but I can say it has been some time since we bought it (5-ish years). Created problems from the start iirc.

Any particular models you would suggest?

Philips are worth a look too, my cheap one definitely had better sound quality than the more expensive Panasonics I've got now.

Totally agree mines 4 year old now (previous was a Panasonic 5yrs+ old) so no idea on the latest ones but if it broke tomorrow it would be another Panasonic without a doubt :)

Any specific models? I'd rather have first hand review then online reviews.

I bought a tesco value one last week, £13.50 and I can't fault it :D it's only my nan that rings the landline so pointless me spending much on it.

I looked here:

and ended up going for the twin version of this:

Seems pretty decent - Obviously no first hand experience but should do the job whenever it turns up.

Maybe not that helpful but hey ho :D

How reliable are the reviews on that website? Last time I went on there, I just went for the top rated and I searched for that, but I wasn't sure.

Had my current Panasonic set for about 12 years!!! I've recently, after one handset started switching off randomly and not holding charge, replaced the AAA batteries with a decent set of rechargers 1100mAh (rather than the 750mAh ones) and I now have a full set of 3 very nice handsets again!! :)

New phones £80 for 3 handsets
New Rechargables £6 for 8 batteries (I got 2 spares) :)

Sorry mate its my first look for cordless phones so no idea.
Couldn't find much else to go on an not registered to see the which reviews.

TBH I am sure they would all be OK so maybe the one that you like the look of best :D

If your not buying before Christmas (the ones I got are for my brother) I can have a look over them.
