Need a new gaming PC - what specs should I aim for in order to play these games?

Hello,

I was hoping you guys could help me. I'm looking to buy a whole new gaming PC, for the first time in 10 years.

I would really only be using it to play games that I don't think would be extremely system intensive? Mainly Sims 4, and upcoming games like RollerCoaster Tycoon 4, and Planet Coaster (https://www.planetcoaster.com)

I would need to buy components like keyboard, mouse. I do have an old PC monitor from about 2007 - a 22inch Digimate L-2231WD Widescreen 5ms DVI TFT Monitor - but I am willing to consider buying a new monitor if you think it's a little too outdated?

What kind of system level/price do you think I should be aiming for in order to play these games decently? Would £500/600 be a good budget? Could I go cheaper/should I aim higher?

I would ideally prefer to get a prebuilt model, but appreciate it might be significantly cheaper to build it myself?

Your advice would be super helpful. Thanks so much in advance! :)

Best,
Mikey

Welcome to the forums Mikey, i would sugest you remove the link to the monitor as its against forums rules to link competitors of overclockers. Just state the model of the monitor or manufacturer website.

I will spec you in a bit.

Looked at your monitor and it is not full hd so i would sugest a new one maybe 24 inch. Here are the specs for planet coaster but as its not released yet so its subjective. Read on the forum that planet coaster runs on the same engine as elite and dangerous so could be quite high sytem spec.

I would sugest going for an I-5 with a maybe a 380 or 960 but if you wanna push up your budget then maybe a 970.

Thanks for the speedy advice, really appreciated!

I figured the monitor might need replacing - thanks for suggesting.

For the desktop, do you think this prebuilt model would suffice? I appreciate that my requirements are speculative, seeing as some of the games I'd like to play are not yet released, but if you could estimate, that would be really helpful :)

I have done a coupe of specs for you, a prebuilt system will save you all the worry and hassle if anything goes wrong and have to perform to spec.

if you fancy doing a build yourself then tell us.
