they are both good. 5850 is slightly better benchmark-wise, but that doesn't mean the 6850 would be a bad choice!

If you can get the 5850 in a deal though it is a bargain for less than £150 imo.

i was just speaking from experience of owning a twin frozr 5850, that i can't believe the noise and temp. highest i've had when gaming is 56 degrees and that was after around 5 hours of Crysis!! with fan speed of 40% which is almost silent!!!

At idle, i keep the fan speed at 25% and it is completely silent

Probably true, but that's the way i play games. get one every month or so, and complete it as quickly as possible.
Plus, i work nights, so find it almost impossible to sleep, so play 'til about 4am!!!
