Hi

Basically we are looking for a new ISP. We currently have the Sky TV/Broadband 8MB/Phone package but are looking into changing it as we don't watch much on Sky and my parents get a slow connection on their PC for some reason (even though mine is fine and always max speed which is quite strange, I usually get download speeds up to like 700KB/s whereas on their computer they can only get just over 100KB/s).

The max speed of the internet around where we live is about 5MB though, so I want an 8MB connection with decent monthly usage for around £15-£20 if possible, off a reliable company, so does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks for your help.

The LLU operators in my area are:

- AOL
- O2/Be
- C & W/Bulldog
- Orange
- Sky/Easynet
- TalkTalk (CPW)
- Tiscali
- Tiscali TV

Entanet (the ADSL24 company) don't have an operator presence in my area. If I go with ADSL24 will that mean bad download speeds? As ADSL24 looks about the best value for money at the moment.

Basically want a company that are good for online gaming (both PC and console) aswell as the other usual internet related stuff.

Thanks for your help.

BE value if no one in your household has a O2 mobile, otherwise O2 'standard' at £7.34 a month. As you mentioned you currently sync around 5Mb, I would expect 7Mb+ on BE/O2 :)

Plus net actually part of BT £15.99 a months or less depending if you exchange is LLU enabled.
Unlimited download and that is unlimited
Free anty spam
Free firewall
Free fixed IP
Free router on joining
Up to 8 meg up to 22 meg coming soon

Been with them for years you can get your phone as well

Up to 24Mb/s package, 30Gb off-peak and 10Gb peak download (total 40Gb) and Unlimited upload. £17.61 month.

I've been very happy with them (I'm only on the normal ADSL Max service).

Worth checking them out though, great support as well and very good forum! Can also bundle in your phone with them if you like. :)

idnet seems expensive and as the OP can get BE/O2 (LLU), which would be a much better option. As for the BE Unlimited package, the OP states that he currently syncs at about 5Mb so this would be overkill as he wouldnt benefit from the higher sync speeds.
