Hey Ho,

Need to buy a new mouse after my old trusty Logitech MX 300 finally gave up and packed for silicon heaven.

Budget is £85

It must be wireless! Can't stand wires!

The two I have in my head aleady are:
Cyborg RAT 9 or Gigabyte M8600

Can anybody suggest a better option?

On that budget the RAT9 is probably your best bet. I quite like the RATS in general to be honest although my preference is the 7 (wireless annoys me lol).

If you can find a second hand mamba it might be worthwhile but probably not.

Nah, think the Mamba is way too over priced. I know the other are expensive but that is way too much for a mouse.

Anybody got any first hand experience with either of the RAT 9 or Gigabyte M8600?

They both have pros and cons, The RAT battery life sucks, the Gigabyte battery also sucks but not as bad. but the RAT makes up for it in customisation.

Still don't know what to buy!!!

I was thinking of buying another Logitech but the only thing I don't like about them is they feel a bit bloated or bulgey on top. Do you know what I mean? a bit too much of a bump on top. Thought I might try something a bit flatter. Does that make sense :)

I agree on the Mamba but you are kind of limited in decent wireless gaming mice and it's worthy of mention :)

Still think your best bet if you must go wireless is a RAT9. I do know a user of of the RAT mice although he has a RAT7. He says it's absolutely fine and the only thing he dislikes is that one of the macro buttons (one closest to your wrist on the upper thumb section) doesn't click. Some state reliability problems but others say otherwise, i'm inclined to think that so long as you aren't rough with it it'll be fine.

G700 looks like a gaming version of my mouse (Logitech MX Performance mouse) and it is fine although not worth the cost for what you get in my opinion. A bit too tall, not that long, no pinky rest and the thumb buttons are too high for my liking. Also short battery life. But I got mine for £30 so I can't complain. It's generally a good mouse, but for gaming a bit lacking. G700 better for gaming granted but I feel like the RAT offers so much more.
