Need a new MTB - struggling to make a decision

Slight thread revival... But I'm in a similar boat. Currently got my eyes set on a Nukeproof Scout 290. The Comp seems noticeably better, parts-wise, than the Race, but an extra £400 (at CRC and Wiggle I think?) seems quite a bit of money. Norfolk being Norfolk we don't do hills really, but it's something I'd like to start taking up and explore further afield - friends and family up North etc. Also planning on using it to commute in when the weather clears up a bit more - <6 miles each way on country lanes so nothing major. The (current) £1400 for the Comp seems a lot of money compared to the more palatable £900 or so of the Race... Advice and input gratefully received :D

Hello fellow Norwich MTBer!
Might be worth giving Pedalz in Beccles a shout as they are a Nukeproof dealer and the guy there seemed to be quite happy to offer a discount if purchasing in full!
I would generally say that if you can afford it, go for the better spec as you will be less likely to be bitten by the upgrade bug too early, also, if you're planning to do a lot of trails/bike parks/etc I'd recommend trying a full sus before deciding definitely on a hardtail; I now have two bikes because I didn't consider this fact haha
looks like nearly all components on the Race are upgraded, but especially focusing on the groupset, brakes, and forks!

They won’t match mail order or Halfords for spec/price but the newly updated (Gen 3) Trek Marlin bikes look pretty nice. Might be worth a look.
