Hi,
So for about 4 weeks now i've had no phone and it's really annoying me, the phone i did have lasted 4 years so i don't change very often.
I'm currently on o2 and have been mainly drawn towards lg for some reason.
first i couldn't decide between the cookie and the viewty, both £87.86 on o2.
but now i've found the LG GW520, it's £139 but that's on orange. the change of number and network won't really be a problem.
does anyone here have either the LG Cookie, LG Viewty or the LG GW520? just want to know what people think of these phones to maybe help me decide.
i text a lot so the LG GW520 is looking the best to me with its full keyboard.

For the love of god.... DO NOT BUY THE VIEWTY... sorry but it really is a terrible phone. I owned one for 18 months and it was shockingly bad. Unresponsive screen, clunky menu system, virtually no customisation.

I've not experienced the other LG phones you mention but I strongly reccommend you have a good go of them in a store.

seriously that bad aye? well the cookie is pretty much the same as the viewty from what i've seen so if it really is that bad it's narrowed it down to my faourite of the three.
But ofcourse i do need to have a play before i buy any of them.

aye.. 'tis that bad im afraid.

i've owned a motorola t191 and the v500... both of those were terrible but the viewty set a new bar for how crap a phone could be. I can honestly think of nothing that it did well.

Ive got a HTC Magic now and there were suggestions that its battery life was poor, i use it at work for web, games etc and i can only get the battery level down to low/mid 20% if i dont charge it at night. The viewty left on standby would need charging everyday.

I hate to say it, because generally i dont have any brand loyalty or owt like that, but i wont have another lg.

anyway.. enough negative talk

You contract or payngo?

I've got a Blackberry (I was given the handset) and my wife was jealous of the E-mail pushing / Qwerty and Facebook functionality and she picked up a Nokia E71 from "3" today on a £20 a month which gives unlimited internet (quicker than my BB) and unlimited texts / 600mins 18 mnth contract.
Doesn't seem to be a proper Facebook app for it unfortunately, just the usual method but other than that very very nice, nice keyboard a lot sleeker than my BB 8800, quicker and with inbuilt office apps and proper flash support.
It's a £260 phone, so works out quite well.

I have an E71 on three too, and it's fantastic, I have never used a better handset. It's clear to see why they're so popular, though beware, the symbian OS is not pretty if that's what you're after, it's more functional.

I echo waht rmuir said the viewty is pants I can't wait till I get to upgrade.
I'd say look at HTC phones.

You stuck with it as well, eh?

If nothing else I had fun smashing the ruddy thing up.

I lost count of the number of times i would be writing a text and lets say, for example, I was texting my mum to ask if she was in as i might pop in after work

viewty mode on

'hey, you folkins? I finish xxxx at thirty mi ghtpop in'

how it gets work to be xxxx even after 3 attempts i couldnt fathom, tho its a fault that was remedied by a swift boot across the work yard.

I have a Samsung Tocco, at first I liked it, but now it's starting to annoy me. A few things such as:-

- The lock button will stop working meaning I can't lock or unlock the screen.
- Bad clarity. People say I sound quite distant, and sometimes people go faint and I can't hear them through the ear piece.
- Texting with the touchpad is now just annoying me, its slower than using buttons.
- I use predictive text (probably one of the few, but I like to use full words) and it just seems to forget words I've entered into the dictionary meaning I keep having to re-enter them.
- Ringtones sound very flat through the phone.

Apart from that, it's ok. :p So I can't wait to switch either!

@rmuir, are the HTC phones good? I've never heard of them! :D

This magic is my first htc handset and I'm mighty impressed so far. Check out the hero/magic threads in here.
