Hi. I have, well up until a few hours ago, an HTC Desire. It's done me well over the last four years (the longest I have ever owned a mobile!), but it is now very, very poorly. I've been enjoying a tariff of £10 p/m with Vodafone (we have a Vodafone sure signal) with 250Mb data and unlimited calls and texts. I now need a new phone :/

A few things - the camera on my old phone is pretty good (in good light conditions). OK - it's no dslr, but hey, it's a phone. I'd like to retain at least half decent pics.
I'm on a really good tariff - I don't even use anywhere near the amounts.
My job is in my profile - stay-at-home-dad, so I don't need a lot of data allowance. I don't need a huge amount of minutes either - I speak to Mrs MFungusPants a few minutes each day. Texts? Meh - send a few.

Because of a chequered financial history, changing suppliers to another pay monthly type deal really isn't an option. We also have a limited amount we could spend on a new phone (as in four fifths of **** all)

So - what do the peeps here on OCUK recommend? Can't buy a new phone outright - can't get a new phone on a daft silly tariff costing £130 per month (because that would be silly) Can't afford to buy a second hand phone (unless they're free)

Any ideas? I do apologise if I've rambled a bit :/

Additional - my missus got a Desire 310 a few months ago and the camera on it is awful :/

I know it's not a camera, it's a mobile phone. However - we all use our mobiles to catch pictures when we can. The 310 doesn't do this very well. At all. It's poop and taking pictures.

Ta :)

For picture quality I would say it's between the Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, LG G3, or Galaxy S5. Not sure on which tariff is good to go however.

None of which would appear to be within the budget he's (vaguely) described.

Moto G would be worth a look.

Check out Huawei phones from CPW or Sainsburys, they come unlocked are within your budget and loads of my friends and family have them and they're happy with them. You'll be able to get a 4g large screen phone for around £100, the y330 is available for £20 from cpw as a payg upgrade and I know 3 people who have one and they're satisfied.

If I've got this right, you want a new phone direct from Vodafone without increasing your monthly line rental by much if anything. Ideally, you don't want to pay anything upfront. Is that correct?

In that case, the Lumia handsets are your best shout. The Lumia 635 is free on a £12.50pm contract, the 735 on £18.50pm. If you're willing to spend a bit more, the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact is a bit of a bargain at £49 up front then £18.50pm.

I'd go for the above Z3 compact deal. If you're going through the effort of buying another phone you might as well buy another that will last you another 4 odd years :).
