Hello ,

I have just joined virgin media "cough" so far so good...

I would like to get a router for my PC but ive no idea which to get. The BB is cable and i need it to communicte with muy pc and my boys X Box.

Dont want to spend more than £80 , my boy got me a net gear which was adsl and im assuming i cant use that one as im cable. last do OC have any decent ones ?

Thankls for any replys been reading the forums for over 17 months great work all

The Linksys WRT54GL is fairly popular, mainly because it's reliable and runs third-party firmware (which adds all sorts of features). If you don't need or want the wireless, you can always turn it off.

Got to agree with above, but more importantly when you choose your router make sure you ENCRYPT the wireless signal. Over half of wireless networks are never secured and you run the risk of people "borrowing" your bandwidth and worse of all getting access to your data.

Dont want to scare you off wireless, as its really convenient, but you must encrpyt it and use at least WPA but prefferably WPA2. Dont be tempted to use the poor#er WEP upgrade any of your devices before using WEP.

Do Virgin Media publish a list of routers recommended for use with their service?

If so, post it here and people will tell you which they think is best.
