Hi Guy's

Just got myself one of the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium cards:

Now I want to upgrade my set-up to a top notch 2.1 Speaker System, can anyone recommend a decent one. Not fussed about the price but would like to get something that will get the best out of the X-Fi Titanium!

If there is a MASSIVE, MASSIVE difference in 5.1 I may consider it but it would be very hard for me to cable it in the office I have at present.

Also got one of these, hope it will work OK with the new sound card!!

Xray

OK, got my sound card now and really need to get rid of the crap gigaworks T20's! There ok for a cheap solution but now I've forked out for a decent sound card I want to get the most out of it.

As said in the first post I have a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium;

So so far I have been looking at the following#

Any suggestions would really help!!!

At those sort of prices definately take the step up to Hi-Fi. Not as much bass but the sound will be a hell of a lot clearer and richer! Those Mako remind me of Bose - 500000W of true, unadulterated, rediculously distorted sound from iddy biddy boxes incapable of producing half the hearing range :D

Hmm, OK

But bit out of touch with Hi-Fi, last time I perchanced a system was about 10 years ago!

Go on ebay, checkout stuff like NAD/Cyrus/Arcam/Cambridge Audio A5 in the amps section etc see if any are looking in decent quality for as little as possible 30-100w should be more than enough, and are listed as no issues, then checkout second hand speakers, ie Tannoy, Mordaunt Short, Mission, Monitor Audio etc, and order a decently made phono-to-3.5mm cable and some speaker cabling (£1-2 per meter stuff) :)

I got an old NAD 30w job for my brother, a month or two back for about £20 inc, bit dusty, and one of the inputs seems a little off (out of 3), but aside that works fine on a different input setup correctly and sounds fine, needs a clean up internally when I get a chance but gives ya an idea what you can get if you look at the right times.
