Hi all, I have 1900 photos placed in 69 folders. They are in date order but each folder is dated on the day I transfered them to my PC so what I'm looking for is a program to do the following.

1. look at every photo within various folders in 'my photos' folder.
2. Sort my photos into month/year folders, so I have one folder for Jan 03, one folder for Feb 03 ect.
3. The photos in each folder should run in chronoligical order.

Also some files have the same name in different folders so some renaming may be required.

picassa is good at ordering photos, free and made by google, updated often :)

i wouldn't use it for resizing pictures, but it works well

Thanks but I've allready tried picassa, can see any option where it reorganises photos into seperate folders.

I would just do it manually. Search across all the photos. Then sort them by date. Then move them into folders by month. I don't know of a program that will do what you want. Unless you write your own, or batch file etc.

If you rename then won't that effect the last modified date? Then you won't be able to sort unless you can find an application that will sort on EXIF tags. XNView can, and it can batch rename. AFAIK it can't move them as you want.

I would rename the folders as follows to keep them in order.

2003 01 02
2004 12 06 My Birthday
2007 09 22 New Car

Just dates isn't as useful.

Another good program is ACDSee Photo Manager... Very good program, although its not free, but its a very comprehensive program packed full of cool features for sorting/displaying your photo's, plus it also has some cool editing features aswell... Check it out here: http://www.acdsystems.com/
