Need a "Professional" email address for my CV...

Difference between googlemail and gmail though isn't there?

You can't get gmail addresses anymore as IIRC it came to light that some other company owns the copyright to 'gmail' or something. People who already had them got to keep them but new members get @googlemail.com

I might be completely wrong though

I just invited myself and @googlemail.com seems to be the only choice. So Mohinder's story is probably right.

You should be able to sign up with a gmail account if you use a proxy with an american IP, as it's a UK restriction that the googlemail domain is used, although as I said in my above post you should still be able to use [email protected] regardless of which you signed up for.

you can send to gmail and it will get to the googlemail but you cant put a full stop in there, as that is a different address belonging to someone else

Try it - I just have and it works :) You have to login with the periods in the same place as you signed up for, but when sending emails you can add them between letters where you want.

Also you can add extra terms in the address, eg [email protected], will still arrive in your in box so you can sign up and filter it as spam should you want, although not all websites will accept and email address with a "+" in it.

You can also combine these tricks aswell, I signed up when it was gmail still and i have [email protected]

Sending an email to [email protected] still makes its way to my inbox :)

Just set up a cheap domain and have it pointed at a free gmail account. That's what I did before I got my iBlog one.

[email protected]

nothing exactly wrong with that

Impossible!

[email protected]

.me.uk is £6 for two years, or it was the last time I renewed mine. I've set it up to forward to a Gmail account though so I still great great webmail and spam filtering with it.

My .co.uk domain is £2 for 2 years with unlimited mail forwards, I have them going to gmail for convenience. .co.uk also looks way smarter than [email protected] !
