Need a recommendation for a nVidia card (possible 3070 ?)

Hi all. As the title says, need some recommendations for a nVidia card.

Saw on a tech video that the EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 FTW3 Ultra LHR was said to be one of the best 3070 made. But since it is a EVGA card I'm a bit cautious to buy a EVGA card since they no longer manufacture nVidia graphic cards, so bit worried about warranty and such, if something would happen with the card a year or two down the line ??

Hence coming here to ask you experts for advice. It's for my secondary PC and so I can try some raytracing on some games, to see the difference (well, if my old eyes can I guess is more accurate ! :p ), so no need for a 3080+ card !

So would be happy with any and all advice you experts is willing to share with me. Especially as black Friday is coming up on us soon too, might be some deals on such a card then if lucky !

Look at Nvidia Fe Cards there usually much better value if availible.

Thanks for the suggestion. Just tried that but don't see any way to buy a 30xx series card at all from the nVidia shop. All it gives is a suggestion on where to buy in different countries, and then to authorized shops but no Founders Edition cards from them.

So if a FE card is not available (or at least not for me, not living in the UK if they are to you?) what card would you suggest otherwise ?

The only concern with the 3070 personally is Vram but I mean I can always adjust settings, 2 games out of hundreds I own don't like the highest textures which have visually no difference when in motion.

If you are into playing the latest games, Dead Space has a recommended spec requirement of :
  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Window 10 64-bit +
  • Processor: Ryzen 5 5600X,Core i5 11600K
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Radeon RX 6700 XT, Geforce RTX 2070
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Storage: 50 GB available space

Which is rather insane TBH.

Fe cards you just have to be lucky ,What resoloution will you be gaming at ?

4k gaming you really want a 3080 but best yoto check out reviews regarding ray tracing, im a big fan if Zotac as they offer a 5 year warranty if registered within 30 days otherwise it's 3 years.

AMD RDNA3 gpu's (7900xt) should be available start of December could wait to see what there like , suposidly better Ray Tracing performance.

Thanks again. The resolution on my main monitor is 3840 x 1600 (Alienware AW3821DW Widescreen monitor) so not quite 4K and as I mentioned this is for my secondary machine. My main machine has a 6900XT which so far been good for any games I thrown at it.

Not sure if I be upgrading to the 7900XT(X) any time soon though, since got the 6900XT January last year.

I'll have a look at the Zotac cards and see what's available over here, if any.

Thanks again ! :)

The 6900xt is selling for £649.99 right now. To forum members (see post in GPU forum). An RTX 3070 is a lot slower than that and close to that price ($550 or more).

Perhaps you should just get another RTX 6900XT? Almost the same price, more VRAM and better at 4K or higher resolutions.

RTX 3070 is best for 1440P max.

Thank you for your input, much appreciated. However I can not see the point with having two PC's with the same GPU, especially since I did say I wanted to try out raytracing ? As it is for my secondary computer which I don't use that much, I choose to have nVidia card in it, presently it is a 1080Ti, and although it suppose to support raytracing I would prefer a tad more grunt then that for games like Cyberpunk and Metro, and therefore most likely going to go for a 3070 (unless Black Friday here comes with some really sweet deals on a 3070Ti or a 3080).

I do appreciate your feedback, even if I might have shoot it down a tad. :o

If you think the 6900xt can't do ray tracing you should probably check some reviews of the 3070 so you know what you're getting before making a purchase.

From the reviews I've seen (old and not extensive, but eh), the OP would need something faster than a 3070 to consistently beat the 6900 XT in RTX (excluding DLSS).

OP: Gamers Nexus did a tear down of the FE and Buildzoid looked at a Zotac 3070 Ti, I don't know if there are any wider comments (e.g. comparisons of other models), but you might want to check them out.

I believe Steve @ GN asked EVGA this question directly and they said that they have held enough inventory to meet their obligations, but I think they pulled their extended warranties and I've seen a few horror stories lately about dubiously denied RMAs, so not sure what to make of that.

Your warranty with EVGA is two years from new, regardless of what they say or do. If they can not replace it they have to give you the money back.
