need a remote desktop application.......

i'm stuck in work for now.

its karbon.dnsalias.com

i'll edit this in half an hour or so, but i'm not too fussed about it being there tbh.

So long as it is password protected you should be safe.

I have tried from my work connection and home and both get a failed connection, i don't even get prompted for a password. If you want ill be on msn from about 7pm tonight, so if you give me a buzz ill give you a hand.

hmm i'll take a look at that when i get home then......

need to pop into town at lunch (to buy WoW because you can't buy it online from blizzard, silly buggers) so it will be tonight before i get a chance. thanks all the same :)

Laptop + Phone with an excessive amount of data transfer

Can quietly start more pron downloads at your desk while the boss isn't looking :D
Seriously...Works a treat with XP-Pro Remote Desktop Web Service.

From all the efforts you mention it is pretty clear that your work doesnt want you remote desktoping to external computers. At my work web based VNC sees the http server running and downloads the java but after that logon does not work.

If you have access to an external unix machine preferably at your house you could use putty and tunnel the VNC connection through that. I have not tried at my current work but im pretty sure that would work.

It is not web based VNC (or Java). It is using VNC but instead of port 5900 which may be blocked by the firewall, it is set to listen on port 80, which should work if web access is allowed.

logmein was wonderful...... till it was blocked as a virus risk :(

Shame. I've found Logmein to be leaps and bounds ahead of all other remote desktop applications. Was there an automatic virus blocker? If it was manual just deactivate it; Logmein is certainly secure

its smartfiltered after you login as a virus risk.

i can understand why in that instance, if you have logmein pro you can transfer data from remote drives, i can't blame them for wanting to protect the integrity of the network.

Have a look for echoVNC. This allows you to run VNC, but communicating through a secure server, so all connections are outgoing. You can also add in encryption if you need to get by content filtering
