Need a silent HDD

Hey guys,

I have started a new job which requires for me to do part of the work at home. So i want to have a separate hardrive for the work I do.

I am only looking for a 250Gb HDD but my main requirement that it needs to be silent and yet have great performance. I got a F3 1Tb and that drive vibrates quite badly i have it on vibration pads.
I had another drive 250 which has annoying idle noise.

Could you suggest me a good quick HDD that would also be silent?

Get a 256Gb SSD. Totally silent and very quick. If ultra speeds aren't that important you can get a SATA-II variant to save money.

i think that 256Gb SSD will be an expensive overkill for work files

get a ssd you can afford put your os and apps on it, use it for the files you working on. Then just keep your old HD for storage and live the noise when you have to access the old HD

Nothing wrong with that. I have had no problems with Seagate drives. (so far).

grab another 1tb f3??? they are pretty quiet drives imo,you just need to mount them better so they dont vibrate in your pc case
