Well, yes, the title says it all really.

My E6600 seems to run at about 44C idle [no idea what under load] with the stock Intel cooler. I bought a Thermaltake Sonic Tower but it's too big to fit inside my case [Coolermaster Praetorian 730].

So basically I need something smaller [I'm thinking the Arctic Freezer Pro may be too big because of the funnel thingy coming off the side of my case] so can anyone think of anything smaller that would be good?

Oh, and my Pentium 4 runs at 25C idle in the other PC with a fanless Scythe Ninja. Ho hum.

i have a scythe ninja fanless and my E6600 at 3ghz idles at 27c :)

the arctic cooler pro 7 is a verry good cooler, i had it for a day on my amd 939 4400x2 befor i popped it at 2.95ghz @ 1.75v but it kept temps 8c lower than stock cooler

and for the intel stock cooler... well i saw it and laughed i wouldnt even think of puting that cooler on a intel pentium 1 lol

Haha I've read you say that so many times :p Now you got me intrigued!

Is there a case fan blowing on it? How have you got your case fans set up?

@OP, might be a good idea just to remove the funnel thing and just use a bigger cooler - I think you'll get more benefit from a bigger cooler without a funnel than a smaller cooler with a funnel

True, could remove the funnel thingy. Is the Arctic Freezer as big as the Scythe? Wish the bloody Sonic Tower fit. It's just sitting in the box with nowhere to go.

at the moment iv just for 3 air intake fans on the front of case (at 800rpm lowest silent setting) and they are about 40cm away from the ninja, so they arent esacilly blowing on it. and one exhaust fan allso at 800rpm which is 3cm away from the ninja sucking hot air away. its not sucking a lot tho cause its on low speed. probibly doesnt even make any difference

oh and a 25cm side panel fan which allso is on lowest.

i used to have 14x 12cm fans in my case :D but i dont need them now tho unless i decide to take up overclocking seriously again.

last time i overclocked a lot i blew my amd 4400x2 up at 1.75v 2.95ghz

edit:

no the arctic freezer 7 isnt as big. its sticks out about the same length from the mobo but its not as wide and long

So anymore thoughts on this? There must be some CPU coolers which are quite small but decent.

Looking at the dimensions of the Arctic Freezer there's no way that'll fit in my case, even with the funnel off. I'm quite happy to get a Zalman since height is rarely an issue with them, but I just need one that doesn't cover any of the RAM slots.
