Hi, im looking to spend around £500, preferebly cheaper. I just need the computer, not the mouse/keyboard/monitor

I use it for games, occasionaly.. so a reasonably good, but cheap gfx card would be needed. Mainly i would be using programs such as Visual studio 2008+, maya, photoshop, expression blend, so i would want a good processor (dual/quad core) and some decent ram. the harddrive size isnt important, 250gig would be ample and i suppose i would want an ok motherboard

Just done this for someone else, lol, only thing its missing is an O/S, dont know if you need, and an aftermarket CPU cooler if you clock, such as the sunbeam

The spec by 95thrifles is a very good one & if you have already got a copy of windows it might be best to go for that one, but as you said you are only a occasional gamer + you would perfer to stay under £500 you could consider this & i have included a copy of windows in this

it seems the 'gamer' pc's are best overall, but really i would proper the cheapest poss pc, with the most ram and processing power i can get, with a moderate and cheap gfx. there doesnt seem to be a pre built pc like this. so is it a waste getting a pc with coolers etc (aka a gamer pc)
