Need a UDK Computer -

i5 2500k is where its at for gaming, possibly i7 2600k for developing (not sure if developing takes advantage of hyperthreading). i wouldnt go for the older intels as theres no room to upgrade, and i wouldnt go for AMD because they'reworse than intel at pretty much every price point

heres my recommendation based on gaming. however, if UDK makes use of hyperthreading i;ll see if i can squeeze an i7 2600k in there

YOUR BASKET
1 x Gainward GeForce GTX 580 "GOOD Edition" 1536MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £389.99
1 x Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail £167.99
1 x Lepa G-Series 900W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply - with FREE LEPA Hard Drive Enclosure £129.98
1 x MSI Z68A-GD55-G3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £124.99
1 x Antec Kúhler H2O 920 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler (LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366/AM2/AM2+/AM2+/AM3+) £64.98
1 x Cooler Master HAF 912 Case - Black £52.99
1 x G.Skill RipJawsX 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL ) £41.99
Total : £985.51 (includes shipping : £10.50).
the motherboard has an offer going where you can claim the VAT back, so it works out at ~£965

if you want more graphics power you can add a second 580 in there in SLI wihout any problems. no idea if UDK supports SLI though

Your right about the CPU, is there a mobo with a killer nic?

i wouldnt bother with one, complete waste of money. cant remember where it was, but the killer 2100 was reviewed, and the only good thing about it was that with its software you could download and game at the same time.
