Need a Windows 98 Floppy boot disk

Got an old Pentium 2 system knocking about somewhere... might have to have a rummage!

Did a little research and found the SYSTEM.INI file has to be modded and a line added

MaxPhysPage=3B000

This is done and install is proceeding..

Nar... Getting more errors than owt else.. Not meant to be..

Win98 only supports upto 1gb ram IIRC

**edit 98 supports upto 512mb, 98se 1gb.

Yep...Sort of new that but continued any way..

Been reading some more and I think I have got the bit of text wrong..

I had MaxPhysPage=3B000 but it should be MaxPhysPage=40000

There was the letter "B" where a zero should be.

Starting all over again.

just looked on ebay, a 1 gb stick of ddr2 for roughly £2.... Is it worth the while just to mess with and not be able to do owt with once installed....

Will set the ini file with correct text first and see what happens..

IMO 98SE is a much better OS for retro builds because there are unofficial service packs available that let you fully update it (it was blocked from using Windows Update years ago) plus add behind the scenes features from ME that improve compatibility/stability.
