Need advice after caught speeding

i was caught at 107 on the motorway

so same ammount over the limit as you. I allready had 6 points and if given another 6 points could have lost my license for a good year plus

as it was, i turned up smartly dressed, admitted my sins, explained it was late at night, nobody else on the motorway, had been doing down hill and hadnt noticed my speed. I agreed that there was no excuse for my actions and left it at that

despite already having 6 points i was given a 28day ban and fined £70 for doing 37mph over the limit.
£70. I got £290 for 116, and it was my first ever offence.

its means tested

and regardless of peoples oppinions of "dont do the crime if you cant afford it" the judicial system sees differently

how much spare cash do you have a month ? i filled in the means tested form, and was honest that with my mortgage i have barely £100 left over each month once food / petrol / mortgage / direct debits are paid.

plus ive got a kid as well.

i take it this NSL 60 limit road is quite open and straight ? make sure you mention this to the magistrate.

Yeah the road is wide, so much so that vehicles can overtake into on coming traffic as there is enough room to do so. There is a cross junction at part of the road though.

If I were to recieve a ban what kind of increase can i expect to my insurance policy beinmg 24 with coming up 5 years no claims next summer?

Scottish mags are pretty strict so I've heard so I'd be expecting a ban for nearly touching 100 in a 60.

As for how much premium would go up, you might as well just try getting quotes online to give you an estimate as it will vary by insurance company. Expect a big hike for an outright ban though.

RE the insurance...

I am up for newewal with a CD10 on my licence, and an SP30. Two non fault accidents and a windscreen claim.

Group 17 car, im 23(24 this month) - Quoted fully comp, 4yrs no claims, starting on 20th of october - £710.85 (Piviledge)

Dont worry, there are plenty of places that will insure ya.

if you only get a short term ban (the 14-56 day job) your insurers treat it like any other endorsement

i got mine just before i renewed. I added the ban, and my rewnewal was still cheaper, so its not as bad as it could be. Its not like drink driving convictions where you can kiss your insurance good bye

Sorry to resurrect and old post but my court case is now very close, I am in court on Tuesday at 10am.

I’ll post up how the court proceedings go but really not looking forward to it.

I know that you've admitted fault and good luck for the hearing but seriously, 100mph on a single carriageway road at night ... What were you thinking??

My sister in-law got caught last week doing 59 in a 30 - she is a new driver
i can see her getting a 12month ban tbh.

Andy
i wouldnt think so.

i got caught doing 59 in a 30. turned up in court looking smart. told them i relised that i had done etc, and that i needed my car for work, that i relised that the normal punishment for the offense was 6points and a fine.

the dude there gave me 5 points and a fine. if she gets 6points and a fine however this will be losing the license as she is a new driver. i got very lucky, but defo learnt my lesson.

OP, fair play on not trying to get out of it, like a lot do. what method did they use to catch you? speed laser gun??

and OP, are you attending court?? obviously there is the option to just write a letter to the court i would advise against this in my experience.

edit, noticed your court date is tuesday. dress smart and say your wrellly wrelllly sowwiiiii ;) lol

I got caught doing 93 in a 60 (also in scotland, nice empty winding A road) on my bike, Just pleaded guilty by post, they gave me 6 points and £250 fine. This was 4 years ago I think.
