Hi everyone im have a bit of a dust problem inside my case and i was wondering if anyone knows if you can by a small hand vacuem of some kind or some kind of suction applience that could suck the dust out dont fancy using my big dyson anyone have any ideas to this?

cheers

sorry for the silly question but i really dont no

Use a nylon duster..... JOKEE lol.

I use a dyson to do mine. Works treat :)

But ive been wondering how to get it off the boards etc because you cant really touch them with a vacume lol.

I was under the impression that using a vacuum causes static build up? I do mine every 2 months or so, I take everything out of the PC, blast it all down with compressed air then I vacuum the inside of the case with all the gubbings removed.

Hoover for general dust.
Compressed air to shift dust to hoover-accessible places.
Lint-free cloth/cotton bud with denatured isopropyl alcohol for cleaning pins etc.

I tend to go:
Compressed air canister > big desk fan > vacuum outside of the case.
Repeat that sequence several times.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I also use a brush on heatsink fins and fans. Don't use a brush with nylon bristles. Remember to use general anti-static precautions when handling anything.

i use vacuum for general then a desktop fan blowing into the case with vacuum near by and an anti static brush available from most computer shops. the retractable bristles are good at getting inbetween the fins on heatsinks.

I just use a vacuum, none of the fancy shizzle people above use, but as you can see from my "rig" in my sig I won't be to fussed by anything other than a hard drive failure!

Soft tipped brush for main hardware, and hoover for such bits like the case or fans. Unless i have some canned air, in which case air + hoover, air to blow, hoover to suck away the dust that flies all over the place....

cheers for the replies guys i will go with compressed air then i think can u reccomend a good and can u you get it from this site?

They are all pretty much the same (it is just compressed air), but prices vary a lot. I couldn't find anything on the OcUK site with a quick search.

You can get a 400ml can for around £5 (and that is way overpriced IMO). Unfortunately I can't give you a link because it is against the forum rules.

To be honest if so much dust is getting into a PC you need to look at dusting your rooms more often  :D

Very true :o

Also remember to turn off your PC when cleaning your room, so that the PCs fans don't draw in any displaced dust.

my new pc is very much dust free my old was full of it so wanna make sure it dont happen to my new rig, this might sound a bit stupid but i have never used compressed air b4 so once u use it do u have to use the hole can up or not cos dont wanna waste a whole can if im only clearing up a little dust

cheers again

If I were you, I'd get a mini vacuum (about £10) and a cheap paintbrush (about £1). Flick the dust off the components, and aim the mini vacuum towards the cloud of dust.

Ok, you're not going to get the suction as you would with a household vacuum cleaner. But do you fancy hunting around the dustbag/bin for a lost jumper?

No you don't have to use the whole can at once (far from it). Just use the compressed air to loosen up the dust, and follow up with a desk fan and/or a hoover.

where can i get a mini vacuem from cant seem to find 1 anywhere?
IMHO these mini vacuums are a gimmick. You can go a great job with a can of compressed air and makeup brush / paint brush. Or the classic old toothbrush. Just make sure you take it outside to do it!! :D

For the ultra cheap, lung power... just don't breath in.
