Need advice cleaning inside pc

IMHO these mini vacuums are a gimmick. You can go a great job with a can of compressed air and makeup brush / paint brush. Or the classic old toothbrush. Just make sure you take it outside to do it!! :D

For the ultra cheap, lung power... just don't breath in.
They're perfect for while you're flicking the dust off a heatsink, and it doesn't go all over the motherboard. :)

I don't see the point in plugging in a hoover, when all I need do is flick my mini vacuum out my toolbox.

Fair enough, a hoover is good for heavily dusted cases - but in 9/10 cases, a mini vacuum will sort you out.

I just use a vacuum, none of the fancy shizzle people above use, but as you can see from my "rig" in my sig I won't be to fussed by anything other than a hard drive failure!

your sig is too long mate 4 lines max

i use a cloth and a brush to clean mine out

I dont get much dust on my PC as i vacuum my room quite often and when there is dust on my PC is just use the vacuum and sutck it all up or free it with my hands then get the vacuum on it while its in the air.

Honestly haven't cleaned inside the case in the four years I've had it. No apparent heat or dust problems. Was once going to, picked up the PCB compressed air in ******s, but it said on the side to hold upright during use because it might squirt out liquid! No thanks.

You must hire a (decent) cleaner daily!

-- Sig should be sorted now :) thanks for pointing it out

I take all PCI Cards, and dust the m down with a soft paint brush.

Take my case out side and use compressed air, or if i can be bothered use the compressor at work.

Not done the Antec yet, with all the stories about dust problems, i was quite worried but still clean as my bosses hands

Would something like this be ok when it comes to clearing dust?

Just wondering as I've got some building to do tommorrow.

i hooverd my pc out a few months ago, broke the barsted. thats why im here trying to buy a new one lol.

i recently had to clean out someone elses pc. i completely dismatled the thing, used compressed air can to get the most of it off. but as they smoked, the fans got all sticky and clogged up. so i litually run the thing under a tap and using a screw driver to scrape it off.

Use a new paint brush works a treat and i mean the kind you use for painting pictures not walls lol.I hate the fact that air costs so much it is after all only air.
Told you we would be paying for air one day and it's to clean our pc's.

Put current through a fan it spins. Spin a fan it generates current. When hoovering your computers (which is entirely safe if the hoover is grounded) make sure you do not spin the fans. Unlikely, but the possibility remains you will blow out a capacitor (which are in many cases designed for current to flow one way).

Enjoy.
