Need advice on parts for a Quad Core System £1000 budget

As the thread title says i have a £1000 buget..i don't need a monitor or keyboard..just a base unit..including case & PSU.

I'm so behind on the latest hardware (still running a P4)..any advice would be appriciated greatly ;)

which came to just over £1000 with shipping and VAT.

I'd go with what Aod has listed there although perhaps drop the TV tuner, it has a better PSU, arguably better case and 4gb Ram. Otherwise there isn't that much to choose between them. :)

Ok...I've stretched my budget a little bit more :P..

What do you think of this..i've gone with a bundle..and is it worth going RAID 0..i have two discs in my basket..i know the risks of RAID (i have never gone RAID before mind you)..even if i don't go RAID i'll use the other disc as a media disc?

BTW do i need to buy any cables ect?

Drop Vista Ultimate, its not worth the extra cash over Home Premium.

You could quite easily fit 4GB of Memory with that sort of budget.

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit Edition DVD
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
Tuniq Tower 120 CPU Cooler (Socket 478/754/939/940/AM2/LGA775)
Abit IP35 Pro (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-5300C3 667MHz Dual Channel Kit X2
OcUK GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - OEM
Western Digital Caviar SE16 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache X2
Samsung SH-S203BEBN 20x20 DVD±RW Dual Layer Serial ATA ReWriter (Black)
Scythe S-FLEX 1200RPM Ultra Quiet 120mm Fan - 3/4 pin
Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU
Antec P182 Super Midi Tower Case - No PSU

Total : £1,218.26

Quad Core, A 8800GTX and 4GB of Memory. You dont need to buy any extra cable's, the motherboard will come with everything you need.

From what I've gathered putting together my machine, the general consensus seems to be that you would be fine with the 520W psu for this kind of setup. Its out of stock at the moment, but it would save you a bit of cash if you were able to wait.

A lot of people seemed to be recommending the Tuniq Tower to use with the Q6600. There's a bundle on OC for about the same price with that in it instead of the ThermalRight cooler. I'm sure that one you've selected would be fine though.

Finally, do you really need Vista Ultimate or would Home Premium do?
