Need advice regarding how to change car radio

2 U shaped keys remove the old one.

You might need to change a cradle, you might not.

Then follow the wiring diagrams, or if you get lucky just unplug and re-plug.

Shove new one in.

edit2: I'm not quite sure how you would go about removing that headunit. I'm sure it's possible obviously! Is it just me does it look as though there is a small indentation to the left hand side of the volume control. It looks as though this might be used to levrage the headunit out

hehe looks like someone had a stab at getting it out with a screwdriver close up, either someone tried to pinch it or the previous owner tried to change it

Probs just need to unbolt some things.. i had to in the Celica.. had to take half the center console apart lol.. from looking at the pic.. is say the plastic surround that goes over everything will comes off and there will be screws either side of the head unit.. probs an easy job tbh.

well unbolt some things vs dismantle most of the centre dash :p

still atleast i now know how, so, once i have some money (how on earth do i have less money now than when i wasnt working :o ) i can get me a new stereo

----UPDATE----

Well, the new headunit didn't arrive today :(

I did however take a look at removing the cage from the car and it seems that it is screw and bolted in (it's impossible to unscrw this without removing the bit that holds it all together i think). If I am going to do this myself I think I'm going to have to remove the lower front dashboard bit (above the cigarette lighter) :o Why aren't things more simple! Anyway, I might well take it up to Halfords and ask them to fit it for me if it sounds like too much trouble. Any ideas how much this would cost?

Thanks.

Looks very complicated. My mate had to drill holes somewhere to undo the screw that held the unit in.....that was fun.

Halfords are £40 but might not touch it if its too much work. I know the fitter in my store takes the full dash off to fit to new civics but wont touch a certain toyota because the full dash has to come off or something.

From my experience of putting a new cage in its just sliding it in and bending some bits at the side that hold it in place.
