Hi Guys,

So my asus p7p55d-e died. Im looking into buying a new 1156 socket motherboard for my i5 760 to go into. However these boards now cost a fortune.

Do you guys think I should get a pre-owned motherboard? or get a new chip and new motherboard?

Im looking for a good chip that will perform well in games and will do a decent overclock. I am also looking for reliability in the motherboard. Budget is about £250 however there is some wiggle room in that.

Thanks in advance!

That is the spec I'd have recommended as well.

For such a small amount extra, the upgrade over the i5 760 is too good to ignore. If you absolutely cannot go higher than £250, you could look at a second hand Ivy Bridge board + 3570K/3770K.
