Need alternative GPU which is quieter and give similar performance

So I currently is using an sapphire 290 and it currently got mad coil whine and when under load I can hear the fans and it's making all sorts of * woo woo wub wub * sounds.

Personally it's irritating me too much and I am considering changing.

What GPU is worth getting which is quieter but still provides good 60+ fps at 1080p?

GTX970 / or another 290 with a better cooler / components.

Could be worth seeing if they will replace or fix it under RMA if it's that bad.

Out of those manufacturers EVGA all the way.

Warranty back-up 2nd to none.

It's better to get the non superclocked EVGA 970?
Would the superclocked be louder as superclocked would mean it's already overclocked?

Just means it's factory clocked. Noise levels won't be any different.

Look for a good deal on a 980. More performance, less noise / heat.

You must be really unlucky, my tri-x 290's are amazing cards, very cool and quiet with no coil whine, 970's are pretty well known for coil whine lol... maybe RMA?

Ok so yeah.
When the GPU hits approxitmately 70 degrees, the fan wubbing becomes too much for me.

I need a fan which doesn't much such sounds under decent load.

If the coil whine isn't loud, it should be fine as the PC isn't located next to me.

Is the GTX 980 worth it?

sounds like you have a fan with worn bearings, you can find out which one by spinning it with your finger, its possible to drill a tiny hole at the back of the fan and apply a small drop of machine oil

I'm not going to take the risk of doing any DIY stuff, I might just see if I can get a refund on this and get another GPU.

if its still under warranty then just get it replaced, i have the tri-x myself and its proberly the best gpu that i have had for noise levels
