Need an alternative GPU

I have a HTPC which I use for everyday AV stuff and the occasional WoW session. Its running an old 8800gts which does everything I want it to do but its a bit noisy so I'm after something that's a bit quieter but at least as powerful(although more power would be nice).

Fanless would be great but I appreciate this is unlikely, I have an SG05 case but am considering moving to something more low profile so half hight cards are a bonus.

Any suggestions are much appreciated.

You ain't going to get anything that will run WoW that is fanless. The only low profile cards OcUK do are the HD5450's and they are utter crap. My fridge has more graphics rendering power than them.

The 8800GTS is a good card, my misses still has my old one and she runs MW3 on it.

Clean the card out.

Unscrew all the screws on the back of the card and 2 screws on the back plate of the card and lift off the cooler.

This will reveal the thermal pads stuck to the cooler and the naked card underneath.

Next, take the cooler apart but unscrewing the 3 tiny screws under the fan itself and clean out all the dust. Do the same with the back of the cooler plate.

Add some new TIM (thermal paste) and clean up with dust and crap from the board.

Put it back together and your done.

Dust can make a card go loud.

Thanks for the reply, I've already tried cleaning it out but its still noisy. Maybe I'll look into an alternative cooling solution.

Any other suggestions new (very quite) card or after market cooler much appreciated

Update for the card would be the HD5770 for me. I have one and it's quiet as a mouse. I am running it along side a quad and 4gb ddr3.

Cooler for 8800gts??? There are none!
