Moving...
I'm currently at uni and we're moving to a new house in a week which we (I ) need to get internet for it. Currently we're on 10meg ntl cable and has been top notch the whole time, apart from the fact they've taken no money yet (btw what happens if we move address and close the account they have?).

Our new house has a bt landline, does this mean if we are using the line for bb we have to pay for the line? And last question; who are the best ISP's? It needs to be unlimited, I would rather go for a lower speed as long as its unlimited. Whats the best offers around?

I'm in Reading btw and have no idea how close the nearest exchange is, not far I would think though.

Thanks.

Yes.

There's no such thing as "the best" ISP - it depends what you're looking for and how much you're willing to pay.

Thanks for the replies guys.
I can get Be and it does seem quite good with very fast speeds but how much would I have to pay to have the bt landline sorted and activated?

I've been looking at Virgin media because they're cable and I wont need to phaff about with a bt landline, any views on them?

My budget is sub £30 preferably around £20 with unlimited usage, but the speed is not as important.

Virgin is the only cable company there is. How it is locally depends on which of the component companies had the original franchise in your area - it might be dreadful (NTL) or it might be merely mediocre (Telewest)....

How much BT would charge depends whether there's a line already there and how much work has to be done to reconnect it.
The standard connection fee is £124 IIRC - you should be warned how much it'll be before any work gets done.

If the line's already there, £0 to connect it and £11/month to keep it.

Virgin = NTL Telewest. They just pay Branson's outfit £8.7m/year to use his name as part of the deal to flog Virgin Mobile to them.

Add another couple of 0s and unlimited would be an option.
