hi guys i have the stock heatsink and cooler on my amd athlon x3 450

but while playing games it sounds like there is a jet engine in my case lol

want something quiet really

what would you guys recommend?

Alternatively the better performing CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Plus which can be had from £16 inc.

Give the name a google, and its the 2/3rd result ;)

that is a lot more than the cheaper solutions above, almost twice as expenive!

Of course it is, if you want excellent cooling and near silence for hot chips you need to pay more for better coolers. The gelid tranquillo will be fine, I have it for my i5-2500k but I think for the AMD chips you need something that can cope with a bit more heat, and if you still want it very quiet I think the BeQuiet is the way to go. If you are willing to put up with more noise and/or more heat than the cheaper coolers will be fine.

My X3 445 unlocked to Quad at 3.1Ghz currently idles at 25C and Loads at 45C with an Arctic Cooler 7 Rev2 only cost like £15 or something.

Little confused why people are suggesting the 212+ as a quiet cooler, mines is very loud if the fan is spinning over 50% speed (i.e. 1000rpm).

EDIT: Mind you, I also have custom water and for that to cool half decently it's not quiet either.

He has a small MATX case so mounting the rad will be a problem. I would go for the arctic cooling freezer 17 as it cheap, silent and very good ant it should fit into your case aswell.

The liquid cooling solutions will be troublesome as the rad is fairly large.
