Need Block List

I have decided, with the other topic I started regarding blocking a port and capping bandwidth for my netgear, I have decided to use the Block Sites feature within my router.

Someone told me there is a Block List online somewhere (cant find it on google)...Does anyone know where to find a list of words to filter via my router?

What are you looking to block, the problem is there are loads of proxy sites out there which can be very easily used to bypass any sort of filtered.

New proxy sites pop up everyday. You can even download the scripts and host your own.

The 2 types of content I want to block are Adult sites and torrents. He doesn't know how to use Proxys so I'm not bothered about that, I just don't want him downloading anything and gettin me into trouble. I have blocked a few words which come up as BLOCKED if using google but I need to know a list of blocked sites/words lists...any help wud be appreciated

Why don't you use OpenDNS? It has categories you can block.

Am I doing something wrong, it says to add keywords or domains so I have added the domain I want to block (torrent site) and have tried http:// with and without the www. but it still lets me access the site, if i type the keyword in google, it blocks it straight away...

Grab a free account, change your router DNS lookup to their servers, and set the categories. Works really well.

I have added words to my router block sites list, so now i get an email alert whenever it gives them the blocked page...BUT it doesnt be specific.

for example, and I know im not allowed to advertise any sites on here so il use an example:

http://www.example-link.com

I place that in my router block sites list, but it STILL allows access to it...does anyone know why?

From what I remember of my Netgear, you don't just add a site to the block list, you have to set a schedule for the block to be applied as well, and possibly even set the IP range it is to apply to, and even then I 'think' it needs a reboot to become active.
