Need a new one since mine has died. Argos did have a 8kg indesit one for 200 quid but i missed out the deal last night and now its 250.

Anyone know of good reliable washer for 200ish?
Also what's cheapest with a long warranty?

I'd be stunned if a ~£200 washing machine offered a warranty any longer than 2 years - you'll probably find 1 year is standard at that price range.

Have to look at Bosch and Samsung for long warranties, otherwise you're just looking at 1 year of free labour and parts, Indesit offers 5 years of free parts after that though but you'll need to get it installed if you don't have the know-how.

iv decided to put some extra cash in an go for a washer dryer. but needs to be long warranty. i can rummage up 500 quid. after the old saying buy cheap buy twice, iv been stung on stuff in the past because i cheaped out.
wasnt there an issue with samsung or LG washing machines blowing up? i cant risk that.

my current zanussi is a 5.5kg one 1600 spin and was bought in 2005. it has served me very well for 12 years!

If as you said you have room for separates get separates!

Your budget is pretty muc enough to cover an LG direct drive washer and a vented white knight dryer a much better option than a combined unit.

oops ignore me wrong thread, two washing machine spec me's on the same day lol

I've got an LG Direct drive washer dryer that's getting on for 11 years old now and apart from a slight glitch with the buttons - which occasionally don't work but thus far have seemingly fixed themselves after a day or so - it's been great!! Ok the drying is not as quick of efficient as a separate dryer but it does the job when required.

My LG direct drive is just under 2 years old and I'm having issues with it (extremely noisy, moving about). I thought it was ballast but no ideas and am waiting on repair agent to get in touch. Not happy as it cost me £500.

First year or so was great but as it stands I couldn't recommend it. I did, however, buy through John Lewis but I am to deal directly with LG so it is irrelevant where I bought it from for that warranty. Of course you can extend it but pay the price and get hounded by Domestic & General for the rest of your life, or a similar company.

Beko or White Knight would probably get my vote, to be honest. For £200 I wouldn't expect 2yr warranty to be thrown in.

Can't recommend LG as well, as the one I bought for my parents died after about 2 years of occasional use.

You can consider AEG with 1600 rpm.

I have to say get a Bosch. Buying a cheap 1600rpm machine won't end well, the bearings will fail close to the warranty, or shortly after. Bearing in mind cheaper machines don't balance as well when spinning, this won't do the budget bearings much good either.

Cheap machine and just save the extra money for if it ever breaks down then replace or fix yourself if it's a cheap fix. Seems absurd to pay an extra £200 just for an extra year or two of warranty.

I got 5 years out of a cheap £150 Beko.

This.

When we first bought the house after living in rented and needed to buy everything, and money was tight, went on Ebay and bought secondhand washing machine for £80. It lasted four years before the bearings went recently and it was looking a bit sorry by then (rust on the bottom, etc) so it went to the tip, I bought a 6 month old indeset one for £100 on ebay again, If it does as well as the last one, I'll be pleased

Rather than create a new thread, I thought I'd bump this. Regarding LG - started having issues with my washing machine (suspected bearing issue) - the approved LG service engineer said it was likely this was the issue but refused to repair it as it took two of them 2 1/2 hours that morning on another similar the job and LG only pays them £56 for warranty call outs.

So is he coming back? Replacing it? Sounds odd/annoying!

Cheap washing machines are designed for around 1000 washes. This could last ten years if you only do 2 washes a week or less than 3 years if you use it every day. However, I very much doubt they would last 10 years considering these cheap washing machines are built with cheap components with a short lifespan.

Basically... no. He said they are going to dump LG as it didn't pay to have the service agreement. He wasn't interested in checking for long so just told me to call if anything gets worse.

Given I'm based in the Channel Islands, there is only one agent here so I'm pretty much screwed.
