No Problem found out it was my q6600 with silly temps was causing the problem. Even though it happily runs at 3.0ghz

I reckon the conclusion we got to was your cpu is knackered regardless of how many threads you start

Perhaps you could try sending it to another forum member to test? I'd offer but getting to my cpu is a bit of a mission!

So i argued till i was blue in the face and got a 75% refund

How can they only refeund 75% To me its either worthy of a refund or not.

becasue they wont use coretemp as its a 3rd party software and dont have to use it so they used asus probe which did not show the problem so had to argue to get a refund minus re-stocking fee

I was just thinking the same thing. Don't lap it as you would void warranty. I would see if you could return the CPU. Have you tried measuring the temps with real temp?

Well now that i ahve water cooling is it best to not lapp this new q660 GO Stepping chip as it was more crucial for temps on air rather than water ?
