Need cooling, fast!

Try using coretemp to messure the CPU temperature

I'll give it a try, but I've tried OCCT, SpeedFan and CPUID and all display the same, so I can't see it being any different :p Plus I can feel how hot the air gets.

Antec Kuhler is superb.

ive got one and just got another one for a friend who wants to cool his q6600 like mine.

very quiet and great at cooling.

I'm tempted, but the only thing that's stopping me is I'm planning on getting a full loop CPU/GPU's after I get my new motherboard... but I need a cooler by mid next week... so, I dunno :(

if you really need a cooler now, then get the antec.

if you do install a full loop later on then keep the antec as a spare.

He's on the stock cooler atm, if you plan on getting a full loop later, then just get a relatively cheap air cooler now, like I said the hyper 212+ or venom would be fine.

Oh lol. If it's the tiny aluminium one without heatpipes I can understand that, but my heatpipe cooler only takes mine to 38*c under load, so if he's going up that high I imagine something needs reseating.

Cheers guys.

Yeah, I'm on the cheap £1 cooler lol. I've tried reseating it, and it's definitely fine. I've fitted hundreds of these for friends and at work, so I'm sure it's on right!

I'm also noticing the heatsink below my cpu and graphics card getting up in the 80's too... something's definitely not right! (no OC'ing yet either)

That Thermaltake Frio looks pretty cool! What's the performance like on that for cooling? :)

Could be a problem with your motherboard I suppose, most likely it would be due to poor case cooling but you have a 690 II so I wouldn't have thought that was the issue, if it's really bothering you you could invest in an Antec Spot Cool and point that towards the heatsink.
