Need For Speed Hot Pursuit YUCK

So how do i know what version I'm running cos it runs like crap. Even lowering the resolution to a sad 1024x768 it runs what looks like a locked 30fps

I downloaded the 1.3 patch straight the EA site, upon running it it says, cannot find NFS Pursuit on your system.. Possibly because I have the Steam ver ?? In which case one would assume it's patched upto the eyeballs, and that its just the engine thats crap, given the lower resolutions do not improve frame rate.

However then why are some people saying it runs well on their rig? My rig is clean, clutter free and runs like a dream on everything else.. So that must mean then that you are you easily pleased and not fussy and have no demand for quality? For example, the kind of person who probably reckoned their old style 360's was whisper quiet. You could argue till the cows came home, but they'd still claim they couldnt hear em.

No not easily pleased and we do have a demand for quality.(see crysis 2 thread)
What i have seen from this game it is either one you love or hate me being the former (its chase hq on steroids) and as for it looking crap again i dont think it does its certainly better looking than a lot of the tripe out there now including cod bo zzzzzzzz
As i said i know from personal experience that the game is not capped at 30 and have seen it running at 60 on full settings.
I dunno if this will help you in any way but before i got the patches i was having crazy problems where the more settings i turned up and forced aa through ccc the more fps i was getting. At one point on lowest settings i went as low as 15fps. Thankfully patches sorted my issue and now runs on system in spec between 30-50fps:D

Interested it what specs the op has????????

EDIT: seen the ops specs........only conclusion can be something must be wrong with the pc

Must be something wrong with your install (Steam often corrupts game files) & or PC. This game will run smooth on a very low spec PC.

I am most definately not the sort of person who is unfussy as I hate most of the recent PC games for poor gfx, gameplay & game content & complain endlessly even pestering devs about things which bother me!

NFSHP was IMO one of the only PC games of 2010 which even met my low expectations. Its a decent but repetitive (like they all are) arcade racer & does look very good in places. Only thing I would say negative is that Criterion/EA left HDR disabled on the initial PC release so it looked pretty bad but they re-enabled it in the first patch which made a big difference looks wise to the PC it restored the missing lighting/bloom/HDR FX. Apart from that I would say they did a 95%+ job technically the only way it would look much better would be ultra high res textures. So in this day & age of crippled PC ports this was one of the better examples in 2010 & in places they did use high res backgrounds which look pretty decent. Check out the ocean waves animation early in the game its not bad at all considering how few players would notice it at high speed. This game does have some decent attention to detail & is easy to pick up & play.

Most likely your Steam version is not allowing the update to apply if it cannot find the installation. Steam are not known for keeping many games up to date with patches if anything they are pretty bad at that sometimes it takes them months to update their version (Lost Planet2 took them 3 months & killed the MP scene as everyone moved onto something else).

I'm now thinking I'm stuck on the base version. Upon installation, it asked me for my EA username and password.. I know I have an EA account, but couldn't remember the password. So I entered in the address, and left the pasword field out. I somehow managed to get past that screen. Anyhow, within the game, if I go to the EA Account, to reset the password, it asks me for my old password ???? Since I don't know what it is, it's not allowing me to change.. I seem to be stuck in a loop here. Perhaps I will just delete the thing and start over.. This time paying more attention to the create an EA account screen..

It really runs bad on my system, like the worst type of port you can get.. I've not seen Steam updating it, and perhaps for this title, it's done through the EA / Criterion servers? The manual pulling down of the patch didn't seem to fix, since it said it couldn't find the installation.

So I'm kinda stuck here. The only option I can see, is delete and re-download & install.

Unless there's a way to reset your EA password outside of the game?

Lolmayo.

The game is fine, graphics are excellent and the fps is 60 constant at high res.

You need a better PC :p

Thread revival!

Just got around to playing this (picked it up cheap) and it truly is one of the worst games I've ever had the misfortune to play. I feel cheated even considering the small price I paid. No manual gears? No replays? No cockpit view? I know it's an arcade racer, but come on.....this is dire. It's also bland, boring and lacks the brilliant atmosphere of the early NFS games. A complete backwards step for racing games.

Yuck indeed.

I picked this up in the recent steam summer sales and I haven't stopped playing it since, I just love it. I've only played a few NFS games but out of those for me this one is the best. the GFX are great, the gameplay is very smooth and its just pure fast paced adrenaline filled car crashing/racing action.

The only negative point I would say is regarding the multiplayer, it just takes too long to get into each race, and somes races dont even last that long. So you spend most of the time waiting around. But the races you do play are good so a minor point really.

It's interesting to see how different games effect different people.

To be fair the new HP game is arguably one the most arcadey NFS game in a LONG time, perhaps since the original HP back in 1998 or at least since MW. The handling in particular is quite ridiculous, most bends you can take at 150mph even if they are a 90 degree turn, it is just a case of getting the back end out and then using nitro to blast into the turn.

If somebody hadn't played many NFS games and just tried this one I could see them getting the wrong impression about the series, yes it is arcadey but not total arcade, games like Porsche 2000 and the Shifts do have some semblance of reality. They are not sims but more a hybrid.
