Am having a slight problem with NFSMW having upgraded in the last couple of days. No matter what graphical setting I'm on, the game seems very jerky, which it wasn't at all before. Seeing as the problem seems to be there no matter what graphics setting, I'm wondering whether this is a CPU issue. Current specs are:

Core Duo E660
1GB RAM
x1950 Pro 512 MB

Any ideas?

Its probably the core affinity. Had that problem myself on both dual core setups that I have had the game installed on.

Thanks for all your help. Switched the affinity to one core, turned off VSync and installed the 1.3 patch. The jerkyness has been much improved, it's just been greatly lessened but it's still there to a very small degree. Anything else it could be? It's totally liveable with but I can't help being a perfectionist :D

I dont want to butt-in here, but, I got to ask...

When you installed it, did EREG.EXE crash on you?

Also, I have found that all my AMDs both single and dual core, play NFSU2/MW/Carbon just perfectly and with no jerkyness at all - ever, and yet both my P4 and my Conroe are fowl at the games. NFSU2 is the worst because I have never gone for more than about 5 minutes before it crashes.

Never been able to pin point an exact reason for this.

My latest issue has been with HL2:Episode one... Hangs the entire system and forces a restart as the only solution.

Yep need for speed mw is one of the games that suffered from dual core processors - the jerkiness is caused from the game switching between cores, i installed the hotfixes from amd and the dual core optimizer, but i don't know if there is software/drivers you can download for the core 2 duos

Yeah, but I have to say that all my games play perfectly fine on the AMDs even the dual core ones... The one and only issue I have had with the Dual cored AMDs is playing Midifiles... They are jerky... And the patch cured it.

The Conroe on the other hand, hardly plays any game I have without jerking in some way or another and thats really annoying because the FPS has shot up in pretty much all of them... Its just the game itself is worse to play.

Id rather the silkiness of the AMDs than the brute force of the Conroe and thats why I have gone back to my AMD as my main PCand my conroe is in the attic folding for OCUK and nothign else.... until I can fix it or bin it. WCF?
