Need for speed shift problems

I have a problem trying to play nfs shift. my 4870x2 has gone pop. so am using a x1800 ati graphic card till i can sort out a new card. The problem is when it comes out of the start up bit where your driving the bmw i get about 5 seconds play the it says its says its incounted a problem and has to close. is this because the card is dx9. ive tryed loading the latest drivers but still wont work. any ideas please.

It's prolly a smart shader 3 issue, a bit like bioshock won't run unless SM3.0 video card used.

this is my best guess if everything was ok before your x2 packed up.
