need free image creation software

could anyone recommend a good image creation program for vista please? I've installed gimp but it seems more photo orientated, I want to make web type images and need a free program.

What makes you think it's photo orientated? :confused:

I'd have recommended the gimp first off, but you could try paint.net which is quick and simple or inkscape (if you want to do vector drawing).

Edit if you want to make website stuff like buttons have a look at the following tutorials

I found it more photo orientated, and it even said it in the online help when I was looking at the tutorials, I suppose I should have said I'm looking for something maybe simpler than gimp - will check out your suggestions, many thanks.

Artweaver (http://www.artweaver.de/index.php?en_version) has been getting a lot of pimping on various blogs. not had chance to use it myself yet tho so this isn't a personal recommendation

However I can recommend Paint.net
