Need help and advise

We need to know your budget, expected gaming resolution and screen size (or if you're wishing to use your TV) , and what components you may already have. And will it just be for gaaming etc?

Depends on the game. Forza is pretty efficient, but 4K is harder on the hardware. Look at what FPS you want at 4K for the games.

If there are any games with the Unreal 5 engine, expect 15fps :D
To be honest I have no idea what I need because I know absolutely nothing about pcs

F1 and iracing 4k

That's a good start but we're hamstrung without a total budget.

Even personal preferences would be an additional - as aesthetics can play an important part to some members - especially if it's a large budget (and 4k will dictate a healthy amount for smooth racing at 4K without gfx compromising - if wanted).

And do you want advice on steering wheels etc as there are plenty of user on here that will have great user knowledge (although may require a different sub forum)

I'm looking about £1200.00

If building yourself something like this should fit the bill, I'd find out how much your sims skew toward the CPU over GPU but I am aware of a few that seem to favour the former.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,216.84 (includes delivery: £11.98)

You can get W11 keys for dirt cheap at around £10-20, installing is easy via USB. Technically you don't even need to buy it last I checked, you can run without activating it and only lose minor functionality, but double check on that.

If you've wiggle room I'd consider a 9070XT for another £100 and a better/larger NvME for another £50-70, 1TB isn't a lot these days, although if you only ever play a handful of sims it wont matter much.

Agree with @Gray2233.

Although, if you just intend to play racing sims you may be able to stick with 1Tb and put any available reserves towards the 9070XT. And then add another NvME if required when you could afford/needed it.

Or, use 1440p, if far enough away - or even if not, once immersed in a race you probably won't notice the difference other that the smoother gaming experience. With driving sims, as you will know, better to have a smooth fast FPS gaming experience than a fluctuating FPS due to needless cloud detail, glistening bodywork, and a plethora of detailed advertising boards etc...

*EDIT - that said, if you're used to console 4K - you may not be bothered.

You may find this interesting (9070XT - different GFX setting at 4k and resulting FPS)

FSR Quality is killing it in that game, the 9070 should be enough if his other sims perform similarly, but I'd still prefer having more headroom with the XT.

Upscaling at 4K or not it's still going to look and perform substantially better than whatever janky res/settings the Xbox runs things at.

True, we own the Xbox series X (kids) and I set it to 1440p as 4K sucks on AAA games (if you're used to PC smoothness).
