hello everyone
need some help with the net on my dads pc as soonas possible as atm i can't do anywork ihad set for the weekend nd im stuck doing nothing.
bascially he is with ntl/virgin with his net and for ages now, i mean for like over a year, it randomly goes and doesn't come back and we have no clue as to why.
his is the only computer connecting to net through this way so its not connected to a network, but straight to the modem.
on the modem it has the enet light on, and the sync light flashing constantly. The ready light comes on when the modem is turned off and back on again but after a while goes out.
on the pc it says its connected fine. if i go to status i can see the activity bit has sent 467 packets and recieved 148 since it was restarted about 5 minutes ago, its slowly increasing about 1 packet every 20 seconds.
the tcp/ip part is currently set to manual, if i change it to what i think it should be set at there is no different, so i set it back.
sorry if i sound like a right noob but i have no clue what im doing with this bit.
so please help me, what can i do to fix this? ntl have said before they think its the pc rather then them.
usually in the past i just leave it for a few hours, sumtimes more, and it eventuasly comes back
thanks
