Hi all,

First time posting here. I have a budget of around £700

Need ram atleast 16gigs
A graphics card that will happily run Mari, 3ds max or high end graphics software
Cooling
PSU
motherboard
atleast a quadcore processor

Obviously it would be great if it can come a little bit more under my budget.

Thanks in Advance :)

Will you be gaming on this machine or is it purely a work machine? Do you need an operating system? Do you need a full tower?

I will be working and playing on this machine :D....all work and no play is just boring hehe. i already have an OS. I currently have a packardbell imedia x2415 case. If the motherboard that i need doesnt fit in there then i will have to get a new case.

Probably best to assume you need a case then. With your budget compromises have to be made. I've gone for a large single driver rather than a faster, smaller SSD. Might be an idea to spend a little bit more on a third party heatsink / fan combo as the standard one is a bit loud

well isnt this typical. I finally get the money together and the case and psu are out of stock. baaah! can you guys suggest alternatives? for the same price?

thanks

OK feeling a bit of an idiot here. Put the machine together, it powered on but Ihad no display. Turned machine of and on again. Still same thing. Turned machine of again and now I can't get it to work. Thennfan spins a little hit when. I press the power button. And yes my monitor is plugged in

Hi G,

Try and provide all the information that you think might be relevant. For instance, what type of graphics ports are you using on your monitor and video card?

Also, post your full spec list, as it isn't clear what exactly you ended up buying.

I'll type his name for you so your auto-correct doesn't end up ****ing him off- Stulid. :D

Thanks for posting the specs. There'll be others who can advise better than I could. But for now, why don't you try removing one of the RAM sticks, and anything (USB's, ethernet cable, etc) plugged into the motherboard except the keyboard, to test if the computer can power on with a bit less power draw.
