Need help building PC

well, I'm saying help... but in reality I'm getting really confused.
Ok... I'll explain, I'm studying 3D computer animation and before now I've been working on laptops but they are not powerful enough to handle rendering and other stuff, so I need a really powerful desktop to do that. I've got some people to design a PC for me, but more people I ask more doubts I have so I've decided to ask here and see what people here think.

Here are the specs that I was originally going for:

- Intel i7 920 2.66 Ghz (1366)
- Gigabyte EX58-UDR (1366) DDR3
- 6Gb DDR3 - XMS3 Crosair (3*2GB)
- Nvidia GTX 295 1795Mb
- Hard Drive Samsung 1Tb или Western Digital 750Gb
- Cooling - Coolermaster V8 (RR-UV8-XBUI-GP)
- Optic drive Sony optiarc AD724 DVD+-RW+CD/RW
- PSU - ThermalTake Toughpower Series Cable Management 850W
- Case - Thermaltake VL10001W2Z Element G Gaming Case

The problem with that is that my budget is 1000k I can add 100 or 200 but that is to pay for it to be built and the OS and with these specs it turns out to be much more expensive.

So, say I want to keep the Graphics card (cause I really want that one) but build a cheeper PC that would be really powerful and fast... So please help to design one ^___^.
 
Learn to build it yourself. If you read enough around it then you will be fine and it will save you a decent amount of money.

The graphics card and GPU cooler were the main things I would suggest changing.
For the modelling side of things the graphics card will be important, and unless you are using dual screens the GTX295 is wasted power and money. If you want to do any gaming then stick to a mainstream GPU GeForce/Radeon, if gaming doesnt matter to you then a Quadro card is worth reading into though at their price the equivilan(cost-wise) card may not be a step forward. The new ATi cards (5850 + 5870) will serve you better than that 295, especially as it doesnt support DX11.
For rendering the raw processing power is whats important - a fast i7 is what you want (overclock not purchase faster).

That cooler is very expensive and doesnt perform too well. A Prolimatech Megahelems or Alpenfohn Nordwand (i think) will serve you better for less.

I know? but I need a solid warranty on the whole piece rather then separete parts. Cause in case it happends to break I'll not be able to identify what would be the cause of it... so i need a place to build it for me, so I'll have their warranty for occasiona like this.

+1 if that warranty is so important.
If you post up here what problems your having then someone will be able to give you a hand and the components themselves come with solid warranties (normally).

I wouldn't even able to identyfy what the problem would be...
When it comes to PCs, I know how to use then etc. but I wouldn't have a clue what parts I need, whicha ones would work ok together and how to put them together... -___-
 
I'm sorry to be a pain, but I dont want to waste really expensive hardware just because I dont really know how to put it together... I'd rather to have a professional do this. I found a place where I can have it done if I bring the list of specs I want in it, but they wont design it for me... basicly they will do what I ask them to but no more... so I have to be carefull

Where abouts are you located ?

People can walk you through the troubleshooting process, likelihood is you wont need to. Though building with such a lack of confidence may not be a good idea.

And give you a warranty on it ? Seems an odd setup.

Yeah I know... well it that and the guy was telling me to install 32 bit vista on it when my specs had 6gb of ram... I'm a novice and even I know that there is no point in having 6gb ram with 32 bit os cause its gonna use only half of of it... but it didn't seem to bother the guy... so I thought I'll get peoples' oppinion on hardware first, then take the list of specs to them and get them to build it... though its still too risky, but I really don't trust myself in building it.

I live in Swansea, but I guess you are right saying its no point on trying to build it myself yet cause I really dont trust myself with hardware which is THAT expensive. But I wan to be there when people are going to be putting it together if possible, to see first hand how its done? may be then I'll have more confidence...
 
But say if I was to go for Quad Core instead, would that motherboard and ram be alright? Or I'd have to go for a different one?
All I was wandering was which ones to pic to go with Quad core?

Hmm, Swansea is a fair trek. Im always up for building PCs for people but a fixed warranty is something I dont offer. Got a lot of experience troubleshooting though, fixed lots of PCs.

No, the Core2Quads use LGA775 sockets (dual DDR2 or DDR3 depending on mobo), the P55 i5/i7's use LGA1156 (dual DDR3) and the X58 i7's use LGA1366 (Triple channel DDR3). They are not cross compatible.

I just need an advice what motherboard will work very good with a Quad core, and what ram to put there DDR2 or DDR3?? I don't know... I just need help designing what hardware to put in to make a powerfull machine =)

(PS I'm sorry if I'm not making myself clear...-____- Its hard to be international and to try to explain things I dont understand fully myself...)
 
I still think the i7 is the right CPU for your uses. Rendering really sees a boost from it. I used to have a Q9550 at 3.4GHz, my i7 at stock speeds rendered in around the same times. Overclocked to 4GHz it renders much faster.

The GTX295 is great, but dated now and unnecessary for your uses. So on those reasons I say drop the GTX295 not the i7.

Oh!! I was told that gtx295 was really good...

Hm... which one do you reckon I should go with instead?

Dont get me wrong, it is an amazing GPU. I wish I had one. But buying one now is a little bit silly as it isnt DX11 capable. And unless you are using dual monitors will be wasting a fair bit of its power as it is a dual GPU card (essentially two cards [SLI] in one).

Ok... that makes sence... and in any case in future I guess I can change graphics card for a better one...
