Im currently looking at building a console sized machine I can game on while im away for 6 months. Its currently a toss up between either an a10 6800K black edition or an i5-4690K. It will be used with a 970 and only on a 1080p TV so im wondering will i be better off with the APU in terms of price to performance? If anybody is interested it will be going in either rvz01 or rvz02 (if its released in time)

p.s. I fully intend to sell the build when I get back as I have no other use for it.

TIA

Do you already have the 970?

If not, I'd go with an APU or 860K or similar and cheaper Radeon card for temporary 1080p gaming.

If you already have it, a cheaper Intel CPU is the way to go. No use getting the 4690K unless you're gonna overclock. An i3 or the Pentium anniversary will do.

Yeah I already have the 970 as I will be removing one from my current gaming rig as it wont be getting any use while im away.

I will certainly look into the pricings on the i3 after reading the article you posted
