Need help creating usb flash for Abit QuadGT

Just tryign to make one ready for tomorrow when i get my new board.

I downloaded this hp usb drive thing and ther was this guide on abit forums but the guide and the thing doesn't match because its outdated by the look of it which i only relised now after trying to use it.

it said that you awnt to put it into something to do with dos (i closed it so cant find exact wording now) on the program it said floppy or hard drive and said the floppy had dos propertys or somethign so i went for that and now ive just turned my usb into a floppy drive and it doesn't show up on explorer anymore.

So i now have two questions.

A) how do i turn it back from ebing a floppy drive

B) How do i make a flash thing for the abit board?

MMM i fixed the flopyp drive thing, but im now trying to find the dos files for the boot disk.

Where do i get the dos files needed? I downloaded the bios flash from the abit site but its not got the dos files.

But it says i need dos files?

And wjhat do i name the volume lable? Anything i want?

Bugger i still have the problem of it ebing formated as a floppy drive as i cant add anything onto it in explorer. Will this be sorted after i find out what dos files im ment to be usign and its formated as a start up disk? then i can put the files on it i need i presume?

the bios flashing file on there is for a floppy. I dont even know what sort of dos files im ment to be looking for.

The usb guide on there doesn't say anything about dos files either.

extract the win98boot.zip to a new folder and point the hp format tool to this folder

I dont ahve the choice of fat32. Also im ment to use windows 98 files ? thats what they got on that.

Just tried it and it asys there is no media in the deivce. I cant add media because it thinks its a sodding floppy disk. Im getting really fed up with this lol.

I just formated it and it still tells me to insert disk when i click on it. Its not acting like a pen drive anymoer even though i just formated it as a hard drive again.

I think i just did it to the hard drive on my printer but as log as it works i dont care. Im suer ill find out tomorrow lol.

Should i flash the bios first thing tomorrow?

MInes missing the hidden files but yet i managed to get it to go through that HP program thing using the dos files said and all that. I have show hidden folders allowed.

Mines in FAT as i cant do Fat32. In a guide i saw they said it didn;'t make a difference, in that guide it says it does.

Did it again with Fat32 and i still dont have it. I also added in the extra files they said to get the mouse support etc.

uncheck hide protected operating system files.

So... now all i gota do is change boot order to usb tommorw (which is when my kit should turn up)? Or is it given some silly name in the quadgt bios to prevent me having an easy ride lol.

I got all those files they said to add as well. Hope they dont interveen with the flash.

the right boot selection in the BIOS might be under usb zip or something like that.

If you just run the RUNME.BAT file once in DOS it should flash automatically I think.

good good. well at least i know how to do it for future updates as well as ill be doing a lot of them as its only the second bios from abit, i presume there will be many to come.
